This is secretly Doctor Who fanfiction.

I mean, every story of mine is secretly Doctor Who fanfiction, even if you don't trust The Gallifrey Chronicles on this. But what I mean is that it's a T:HOMEWORLD-style-inspired renaming and reshaping, putting different emphases on different places.

It depends a lot on what Coloth and others do, the sureness that not every story needs to be about them. I've read Missing Pieces, and the single stories are often wonderful —

and the money they've raised probably helped people, which is twelve nif unexian times more important than anything else —

but it's a Newton's sleep black hole of a universe, that. The thing that people mean when they say the revival show is an oxbow reality. So you'd want to escape from there, obviously, to a universe which is just bigger than that, and so much more interesting…

And within that context, when there's people that can take care of all those other narrative foci, maybe there can be stories about some creature with a weirdly expansive and instrumental sense of self, an inability to stay in one time and place for too long, and a wonderful friend and partner-largan who is also the timeship they travel in.

If, when you sneak out the back door to the narrative, you must leave your name behind —

then, maybe, if you leave your name behind, you can shed some of the narrative along the way. That's the idea…

I wonder, are actual-play podcasts less susceptible to this problem because players all have their own characters to care about, and for plotlines to take into account?..

Whatever the reason, whether it even makes sense to identify one, Thieves and TARDISes is magnificent. Just so you know. You might love it!.. and if you're me, you do.
